First off, if you're here, thanks for taking a peek at my writing blog! If you don't know who I am, I'm an aspiring author who is currently working on a series of sci-fi/fantasy/dystopian novels and related material with the goal of publishing them someday. I currently have a near-complete first draft of the first novel in the series, and I'm also working on a prequel to it, to fill in some of the backstory I didn't have space for in the first book.
I'm posting here for two reasons. One, because I have several friends from online school who read what I write, and in the event that my school account disappears, I want them to have a place to contact me for story updates if they'd like. Two, because I figure that if I can encourage or help any other aspiring authors, that will be a good thing, and I thought I'd give it a shot.
Anyway, now for the actual progress report. I have hit a patch of what many have termed "Writer's Block" with regard to Resistance (the first novel in my series). I have the entire plot either outlined or written down, but it's too short at the moment, and I worked on it so much in the space of a single month that I started getting a bit burnt out. So, in an attempt to become wholeheartedly excited about this project again (and to get some ideas for how to lengthen it...), I have decided to work on the prequel, Gifted. Gifted is much less sci-fi/dystopian and far more fantasy-oriented, but it has a twist that I hope all you readers will find interesting.
Anyway, I should get back to working on Gifted now. I'd love to hear from all of you in the comments! Are you one of my online school friends who's read Resistance or what I've posted of Gifted?
